Mohanan P, a 32-year-old daily wage laborer from Melattur, Malappuram, and 18-year-old Athira K from Iritty, Kannur, are coming together in a union defined by shared resilience and traditional values. Both families belong to the OEC Kumbaran community and rely heavily on hard labor to sustain themselves, with Mohanan’s father, Muthu, engaged in traditional clay pot making and coolie work, while Athira’s father, Mani, is also a daily wage earner. With both households operating on a monthly family income of less than ₹12,000, their circumstances are challenging yet dignified. The Hysora team’s visit to Athira’s humble home in Iritty highlighted the stark reality of their living conditions. Mohanan’s dedication to this alliance was particularly evident during the verification process; despite his mother, Ammini, being hospitalized at the Medical College, he prioritized the meeting. Understanding the logistical and financial strain he faced, the Hysora team intervened to transport him part of the way during their return journey, ensuring that personal emergencies did not hinder this marriage, which stands as a beacon of hope and stability for both families
